Jason Pui Yin Cheung joined the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology as a Clinical Assistant Professor in November 2012 and was promoted to Clinical Associate Professor with early tenure in 2018, which was promoted again to Professor in 2023. After obtaining his MBBS degree from The University of Hong Kong in 2007, Dr Cheung received his training in Orthopaedics at Queen Mary Hospital. He completed his membership examination in 2009 and obtained his Masters of Medical Sciences degree from The University of Hong Kong in 2012. He completed his specialist training in 2014. He obtained his Master of Surgery in 2017, Postgraduate Diploma in Molecular and Diagnostic Pathology in 2018, Doctor of Medicine in 2019, and Master of Education in 2021.
Dr Cheung has been the Head of the Department since Dec 2021. As of date, he has published over 250 papers, 20 book chapters, 100 invited lectures and over 350 conference papers. He has received over 50 international awards. He is currently the Research Chairman of AOSpine Asia Pacific region, the Immediate Past Chairman of APSS and the Asia-Pacific representative of ISSLS. His main clinical research interests are paediatric growth and spinal deformity, lumbar degenerative disorders, lateral access surgery and novel imaging and clinical phenotyping.
