Dr. Teng Grace Zhang is currently an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Translational Research at the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, The University of Hong Kong, where she founded the Digital Health Laboratory in 2018. A biomedical engineer with a medical background, Grace’s research integrates both fields, focusing on modeling biological systems with direct clinical applications, including digital health, autodiagnosis, optimized treatment planning, and real-time feedback tracking to minimize harm and improve outcomes. Previously, she served nearly seven years as a Scientific Officer at the St George Clinical School, University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia, where she also completed all her tertiary education, including her PhD (Australian Postgraduate Award).
Grace has experience managing multiple instruments and drug trials funded by Medtronic and Sigma, and worked as a System Engineer at Kunovus Australia for two years, developing a new system. She is a senior member of IEEE and EMBS, and a member of AO and ISSLS. Current projects include HMRF08192266 (light-based AI-driven malalignment quantification), HMRF19200911 (AIS digital health), PRP/078/21FX (surgical planning), AOSpine (automated spine malalignment screening), MRP/038/20X (non-radiation AI diagnosis), and ITS/329/19 (antimigration bone screws). Her academic metrics include an h-index of 18, 1017 citations, over ten academic and industrial awards, and supervision/co-supervision of 10 research students
